Heath Park Miniature Railway & Tramway is owned and run entirely by volunteers of the Cardiff Model Engineering Society. No one is paid.
Cardiff Model Engineering Society is a charity whose aims can be seen on the Charity Commission's website. Charity number 1123252. Or in the last paragraph below.
We receive no financial assistance from the Council or Parks.
The demand for rent and rates, electricity, gas, insurance policies & etc. continued through the recent pandemic lock down. An amazing number of people that have no or at least only a tenuous connection with the railways and tramway provided support by gifts of money and grants and loans. The members of the Society paid their annual subscriptions for the next 3 or 5 years, and some of these members simply gave the cash as a gift.
The facilities of the attraction, to date were funded entirely from the days we were open to the public. Our visitors paying modestly for rides and from time to time families giving small donations.
We wish to express our gratitude to all those members of the public and our supporters from across the country and the world; without their support we would be in a very weak position to start up our activities which provide the hidden Jewel in Crown of Cardiff.
We are planning how to safely allow the public access to the rides, which will require Social Distancing and Alcohol wipes and sadly at this time no public access to the building. We will in the very near future be offering train rides that comply to the Government guidelines at a modest charge.
